Since her first public appearance at the age of 10, Ana Topalovic has performed regularly at renowned festivals and concert halls: Wiener Konzerthaus, Wiener Musikverein, Carnegie Weil Hall, Salzburger Festspiele, Berliner Konzerthaus, Gasteig München, Tokyo Opera City House, Centro Cultural Kirchner, Opatija Music Tribune, Cluj Modern, SIMN Bukarest, Meridian Festival and many more. She has performed in 29 countries on 4 continents. Her repertoire ranges from solo literature and chamber music, to interdisciplinary contemporary and experimental music with live electronics.

Ana's last solo album "Bachiana" (2022) was nominated in 3 categories for the Opus Klassik awards. Her discography currently includes 10 albums of music for solo cello, over 30 premiere recordings, as well as her own compositions; released on the Hänssler, Neos, Capriccio, Paladino and Sony labels.

Her intensive involvement with contemporary music has led to several personal collaborations with renowned composers of the 21st century such as T. Larcher, F. Cerha, J. Doderer, O. Neuwirth, G.F. Haas, A. di Scipio, F. Placidi or M. Ferek-Petric in the form of premieres, dedications and joint musical works.

Inspired by the versatility of her instrument, she increasingly appears as a composer of her own works. She searches for hidden musical interfaces with other schools of thought and art which is due to the fact that she is a visual synesthete.

She has performed her works at Carnegie Weil Hall, Gasteig Munich, Wiener Konzerthaus, Prinzregententheater, Posthof Linz and others. For her interpretation "The Book" by P. Vasks she received the special prize of the IBLA Foundation. She was the soloist in the Austrian premiere of "The Daughter of the Moon - Moravac & Finale" by A. Sedlar for cello and orchestra in the Golden Hall of the Vienna Musikverein.

Ana Topalovic performed with partners such as E. Schrott, Janoska Ensemble, J. Stancul and C. Pichler. She performs with various orchestras such as Filharmonia Oradea, Camerata Internacional, Filharmonia Oltenia Orquesta Nacional de Música Argentina and others.

Ana Topalovic is co-founder of Green Thing Ensemble Vienna, Duo Arcord and Duo Zadory-Topalovic with whom she has performed over 50 commissioned works and premieres. With GTE she collaborated with the Zurich University of the Arts on the project "Polytempo".

Ana Topalovic developed the multicello technique by combining different digital tools, in combination with the analog cello as well as a 5-string e-cello. The music can thus grow live from the acoustic monophony of the cello to a hybrid orchestral sound in a wide variety of nuances. It is important to her to be able to step out of the purely classical concert setting with this music and to be able to perform with minimal and highly mobile equipment in sometimes unexpected places.

Ana Topalovic is a lecturer for violoncello and modern playing techniques at the Richard Wagner Conservatory Vienna. She leads the Vienna Cello Studio and online learning platform “Vienna Cello Masterclass”. Ana is an honorary visiting professor at the "Jose Hernandez" Conservatory in Buenos Aires and a juror at several music competitions.

Ana Topalovic was born in Belgrade, Serbia and moved to Vienna at the age of 17. She received piano and cello lessons at a very young age. She began concert studies at the Conservatory of the City of Vienna with J. Bayrov. Afterwards she studied with M. Kliegel at the Hochschule für Musik in Cologne and completed her master studies at the Konservatorium Wien Privatuniversität with M. Hornstein and L. Schulz-Bayrova. During this time she won several prizes in various competitions such as IBLA Grand Prize (over 400 applicants in a multisport competition). Ana and her projects have been supported several times by Thomastik-Infeld, Cultural Department of the City of Vienna and Austrian Federal Ministry of Culture (bmkoes).
